STOP WORKING.

STOP WORKING?  HUH?  DON’T DO ANYTHING?  YUP, THERE’S NO DOWNSIDE.  YOU WON’T …MAKE THAT CAN’T, GET FIRED FOR DOING NOTHING.  LACK OF INITIATIVE ISN’T GROUNDS FOR DISCIPLINE.police gun

I MEAN ANSWER THE 9-1-1 CALLS BUT OTHER THAN THAT… NOTHING. IGNORE THAT “GUT” FEELING WHEN AROUND THE CRIMINAL ELEMENT.  RESPOND ONLY WHEN SOMEBODY HAS BEEN VICTIMIZED.  THEN IF YOU HAVE PROBABLE CAUSE…NOT REASONABLE CAUSE.  THEN GO AHEAD AND MAKE THAT PINCH.  AS LONG AS NO ONE OBJECTS OF COURSE.

IF THEY PROCLAIM INNOCENCE AND PHYSICALLY TAKING THE PERSON INTO CUSTODY WOULD CREATE A BIG RUCKUS WRITE THE CASE UP AND PRESENT IT TO A JUDGE. IF THEY ISSUE AN ARREST WARRANT GIVE IT TO THE FUGITIVE UNIT AND GO BACK IN SERVICE.

A RECENT POLL SHOWS THAT 66% OF NEW YORKERS SUPPORT THE POLICE.   WHY?  THAT’S EASY, THEY DON’T WANT TO BECOME THE VICTIM OF A CRIME.

AT THE SAME TIME THOSE THAT REPRESENT THOSE CITIZENS (POLITICIANS) AND THE MAJORITY OF THE MEDIA OPPOSE PREVENTIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT.  THEY ASSIGN EVIL INTENT TO AGGRESSIVE POLICE WORK.  THEY ALSO BELIEVE THAT THERE’S UNIVERSAL, MALICIOUS MOTIVATION BEHIND ALL POLICE OFFICERS.  ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT ARE PROACTIVE.

THE POSSIBLE FALLOUT: THE NAYSAYERS WILL GET THEIR WISH.  THE POLICE WILL STOP.

BUREAUCRACIES BREED MISSION FAILURE DUE TO A SYSTEM THAT ENCOURAGES INACTION AND DISCOURAGES INITIATIVE.

THE MAJORITY OF OFFICERS WANT TO DO THE JOB.  DO THEY MAKE MISTAKES, USE POOR JUDGEMENT AND AT TIMES LET THEIR EMOTIONS GET TO THEM…SURE.  THEY ARE ALSO THE PEOPLE WHO RUN INTO BURNING BUILDINGS AND TOWARD THE GUNFIRE WHILST OTHERS ARE RUNNING AWAY.

KEEP DEMONIZING THE POLICE, CALL THEM NAMES, ASSIGN ILL-INTENT TO THEIR MOTIVATION AND THEY’LL GET THE MESSAGE.  THEY’LL DO WHAT THEIR TOLD: NOTHING.

SPECIAL TIP OF THE HAT TO FORMER ST. LOUIS COUNTY PD CHIEF TIM FITCH FOR POSTING THIS ARTICLE.  THANKS TIM.
