IT WAS ONLY A TOY GUN-CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE?

fake-gunRECENTLY A 13 YO BOY WAS   SHOT BY A POLICE OFFICER IN COLUMBUS, OH.

OFFICERS RESPONDED TO THE REPORT OF AN ARMED ROBBERY AND A MAN WITH A GUN.  UPON ARRIVAL OFFICERS TOLD A SUSPECT, WHO FIT THE DESCRIPTION OF ONE OF THE ROBBERS TO PUT HIS HANDS IN THE AIR.  INSTEAD OF FOLLOWING THE OFFICERS ORDERS HE WENT FOR, WHAT APPEARED TO BE, A GUN.  THE “WEAPON” PULLED FROM HIS WAISTBAND WAS A REPLICA OF A SEMI-AUTOMATIC.  INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM THE FIREARMS CARRIED BY OUR NATIONS POLICE OFFICERS.

AS ONE MIGHT EXPECT, AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS KID’S ACTIONS, HE WAS SHOT AND KILLED.  FOLLOWED,OF COURSE, BY THE ENRAGED HOODRATS AND USUAL SUSPECTS.  THE HUE AND CRY BEING…”IT WAS ONLY A TOY GUN.”

ONCE AGAIN, ALL THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED IF THE VIOLATOR HAD COMPLIED.  LET’S REVIEW A COUPLE SIMPLE RULES.

  1.  WHEN A COP SAYS “DROP THE GUN”…DROP THE GUN.
  2.  WHEN A COP SAYS “SHOW ME YOUR HANDS”…SHOW YOUR HANDS.

NOW THAT WASN’T SO HARD WAS IT?

STAY SAFE, BUCKLE UP AND WEAR YOUR VEST!!
