A bill making its way through the CA houses of lunacy would make it a law that cops are not allowed to be members of “hate” groups. Well who in the world wants cops to be members of a hate group? Certainly not police chiefs and police boards.

When a prospective recruit is accepted for the academy he/she has had a microscope up their butt for several months. Conducted by detectives assigned to the personnel or HR division. These investigators know how to conduct a background check and will know if the applicant has any ties to hate groups. You know, like the kkk or the black panthers.

This brings up the question…who determines what a hate group is? The legislators, chiefs or the guy who cleans the toilets? In the future a hate group could be a member of the Catholic church because they are against abortions. Maybe Rotarians because they say the pledge before a meeting.

Seems like the state is sticking their nose under the tent to further “reform” cops. Let the citizens decide. This is a stupid and unnecessary law that could have far ranging effects on police officers. What the hell is wrong with these knuckleheads? Anything for a little face time in front of a camera.
