TV COPS AND THE REAL DEAL

I JUST READ AN ARTICLE IN POLICE ONE THAT ADDRESSES THE THINGS THAT TV COPS DO.  THE REAL DEAL IS JUST THE OPPOSITE.  LET’S TAKE A LOOK.

  1.  TV COPS INVOLVED IN A DEADLY FORCE INCIDENT IMMEDIATELY RETURN TO DUTY.  MANY TI,MES NO REPORT IS FILED.  IN REALITY, THERE ARE MOUNDS OF PAPERWORK AND REVIEWS AND SHRINK VISITS.  THE ONLY THING THAT INVOLVES MORE PAPERWORK…WHEN YOU ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN A POLICE CAR.
  2. TV COPS TRANSFER BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.  I.E. LAPD TO NYPD OR VICE VERSA….AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN.
  3. ROOKIES WILL BE INVOLVED IN A DEADLY FORCE INCIDENT THEIR FIRST DAY OUT….THE COP WHO IS ABOUT TO RETIRE IS SHOT ON HIS LAST DAY.  YEAH RIGHT.
  4. TV COP CAN TELL HIS PARTNER TO “OBTAIN A SEARCH WARRANT.”  NO WAY, THIS IS AN INVOLVED PROCESS.  THE OFFICER VERIFYING THE INFORMATION MUST SIGN THE AFFIDAVIT.  ON TV THIS TAKES ABOUT 20 MINUTES.  HAVING OBTAINED A NUMBER OF SEARCH WARRANTS I CAN SAY THIS TAKES AT LEAST 3-4 HOURS…UNDER THE BEST CIRCUMSTANCES.
  5. EVERY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY HAS AT LEAST ONE “SAFE HOUSE.”  NEVER HEARD OF ONE.
  6. TV COPS ALWAYS FIND A PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING THEY ARE VISITING.  MUST HAVE MISSED THAT CLASS.  PARKING SPACES, ESPECIALLY IN A CITY, ARE A PREMIUM.

THAT’S ALL FOR NOW.  CHECK OUT BLOG TALK RADIO, “BLUE JUSTICE-FUN FRIDAYS,” @ 347-850-8154 11:30-12-30 EST.
