MISSOURI-PROPOSED LEGISLATION

missouri-state-flagHERE’S ONE THAT WILL LEAVE YOU SCRATCHING YOUR HEAD.

TWO MISSOURI STATE LEGISLATORS, ALONG WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE MISSOURI BRANCH OF THE ACLU HAVE PROPOSED A NEW LAW.  THE PROPOSED STATUTE WOULD REQUIRE POLICE OFFICERS MAKING A VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN STOP TO RETAIN INFORMATION IN ADDITION TO THAT WHAT IS CURRENTLY REQUIRED.  THE NAME, ADDRESS, SEX AND RACE ARE A MUST FOR OFFICERS TO DOCUMENT TODAY.

TOMORROW, OR WHEN THIS PROPOSAL IS PASSED WOULD REQUIRE OFFICERS TO OBTAIN FURTHER, INTRUSIVE INFORMATION.  ADDITIONALLY, NOW GET THIS, OFFICERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN (THIS IS REALLY HARD TO WRITE) PERCEIVED SEXUAL ORIENTATION, PERCEIVED ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN AND DISABILITIES.

AUTHORS NOTE:  NO POLICE OFFICER IN THIS COUNTRY WILL EVER ASK OR ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE THIS KIND OF STUFF.  FIRST OF ALL, IT’S NOBODY’S BUSINESS.  IN ADDITION EVERY OFFICER WOULD FEEL THAT THIS IS A GROSS AND UNACCEPTABLE OVERREACH OF A GOVERNMENT BODY.

THE BILL, AS WRITTEN WOULD ALLOW INDIVIDUALS (INSERT LAWYERS) TO USE THE DATA TO SEEK RETRIBUTION AND RESTITUTION FROM THE INDIVIDUAL(S) AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS FOUND TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THE DATA THEY COLLECTED….WHAT??

IT SEEMS THAT OUR HARD EARNED TAX DOLLARS ARE PAYING THE SALARIES AND RELATED EXPENSES FOR A BUNCH OF PEA BRAINED REPRESENTATIVES AND SENATORS AT BOTH THE STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL.

WITH LEGISLATION LIKE THIS ON THE HORIZON ONE MUST WONDER…WHAT IN THE HELL IS NEXT.  YOU CAN BET IT’S GOING TO BE CREATIVE!!
